Dr Willem Botha graduated in 1970
from the University of Pretoria, worked in Ermelo for 2 years and then returned
to Onderstepoort. He lectured in Veterinary Pathology for the next 10 years and
during this time received his BVSc(Hons) and MMedVet(Path) degrees. In 1982
Willem was the first specialist in veterinary pathology to set up a private
pathology consultation service in South Africa. The practice is now located in
the pathology building at the faculty of veterinary Science, Onderstepoort, near Pretoria, with a fully equipped pathology laboratory.
Willem has been
actively involved in veterinary diagnostic pathology ever since. |

Dr Liza du Plessis qualified at
Onderstepoort in 1994.
After working
in a mixed private practice for 2 years she started her career in veterinary
pathology at the Pathology Section of the Onderstepoort Veterinary Institute
where she worked for more than five years. She has been with Vetpath since 2002
and obtained her MMedVet in Pathology with distinction during this period. |

Dr Thelma
Meiring
received her Veterinary degree from Onderstepoort in 2002. After locuming for a
few months, she started training at the Department of Pathology, Faculty of
Veterinary Science, Onderstepoort, with part-time pathology training at Vetpath.
She is working full time at Vetpath as a Tip Top student from May 2004.
Thelma is currently registered for her MMedVet (Pathology) degree and her
research project entails the identification of persistently infected animals
with bovine viral diarrhoea virus by immunoperoxidase staining. |

Riekie Mundell is the backbone of
administration and accounting in VetPath and has been with the laboratory for 17
years. She obtained a BA degree from the University of South Africa and is
therefore ideally qualified and competent to handle all administrative and
accounting matters at VetPath. |

Stephanie Malan joined VetPath
after qualifying as a Veterinary Technician from the Technikon Pretoria in 1997.
She did a post graduate training course in Applied Veterinary Bacteriology and
Mycology at the University of Pretoria in 1999. She is currently responsible for
our bacteriology, monitoring of venereal diseases (Trichomonas and
Campylobacter) and also the laboratory quality control program. |

Vanessa Prinsloo
is a student from the Tswane University of Technology doing her practical
studies in Veterinary Technology at Vetpath.

Johannes
Sithole
has been with the practice for more than 26 years, and apart from mechanical
processing of samples, he is also our driver in the Pretoria/Greater Tswane
metropolitan area. |
